Recreation

The Alsip Park District maintains over 200 acres of beautiful parkland. The District is a past recipient of the Gold Medal Award for excellence in park management and for providing outstanding leisure services to the community.

The District’s facilities include playgrounds, sports fields, ice rinks, a fitness center, a skate park and an aquatic park. A public golf course, public tennis courts and pleasant walking and bike paths are also under the care of the Alsip Park District.
Howe’s Landing, a municipally owned public boat launch facility for recreational vehicles on the Cal Sag Channel provides opportunities for fishing and boating. Open from April through October, it provides months of launch opportunities to area boaters. The launch has also hosted several amateur and pro fishing tournaments and other water related events over the last few years.
